Etta Mae Mumphries

Nobody tells stories like Etta Mae Mumphries. And nobody has met and influenced so many important people! You may not have heard of Etta Mae, but surely you know of Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Sammy Davis, Jr., and the list goes on and on. Known sometimes as the “Black Forrest Gump,” Miss Etta Mae is a font of biblical wisdom and encourager extraordinaire. Her hilarious words of wisdom will bless your soul and have you in stitches all at the same time.
Miss Etta Mae Mumphries is the “altar” ego of actress and writer Karen Bankhead. Etta Mae is part of the award winning one-woman show, “The V05 Experience,” performed at the HBO Workspace, Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, Comedy Central Showcase, Official Selection of the 2011 United Solo Fest – NYC, 2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival, Ira Aldridge Playwriting competition (2nd place), and other venues. She is topical, rhetorical, and always HYSTERICAL!
Karen Bankhead
Karen grew up in an Air Force family and began her acting career on stage, in theatres in Arizona, New York, Southern and Northern California. She grew up in San Jose, CA and received a BA in Psychology from UCLA.
She has played a variety of delightful roles including the wacky receptionist “Taylor” on the ABC series “New Attitude,” the ultra-nerd “Adrienne” on “Boston Common” and as “Denise Pendergrass,” the feisty line producer on the debut season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” She has studied at Second City, and was a member of the Groundlings Sunday Company, and founder/producer/writer/performer with the groundbreaking improv groups “Hold the Cream” and “Foxy, Fine and Funny.” Stand up venues include the World Famous Comedy Store, Ice House, and the Improv. Karen has toured with her award-winning one-woman comedy/inspirational show, “The V-05 Experience” and is having a ball making appearances in stage shows and hosting events as her “altar” ego, Etta Mae Mumphries.

He was recently named Stand-Up Comedy champion after winning the Improv Comedy Club’s talent search for funniest comedian. His list of club credits includes The Comedy Store, The Ice House, The Laugh Factory and the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas.
Scott's many television credits include ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, A&E, Comedy Central, The Family Channel and two national commercial appearances. Bush, John Travolta, The Simpsons and Sylvester Stallone, as well as singers such as Michael Bolton, Frank Sinatra, The Backstreet Boys and many more. Scott's impressions have been heard on KLOS, KABC, and the Rick Dees show.
Scott says in his testimony, “I realized my humor was a gift from God. I got down on my knees and said, 'Lord if You can use my humor, use me,' and He did. Thank God I'm now doing both comedy and ministry—sharing the source of my humor, which is Christ.” Clients remark that audiences “gave us happy comments for months” after his performance, calling him a “full service comedian, presenting his material in a clean, professional, family-oriented and engaging manner.” Scott says he loves to make people laugh—at this rate, Scott Wood had better make plans to make people laugh for a long, long time.
